Real Reels | Militants from S. Tagalog Protest Against US-RP Balikatan Exercises

20 April 2012 [Manila] — Militants from Southern Tagalog led by BAYAN-ST march towards the US Embassy to voice out the nation’s call of debunking the Visiting Forces Agreement and the Balikatan Exercises of joint American and Filipino troops on strategic locations throughout the country, as people from different sectors were enraged by the US’s denial of Philippine sovereignty through masquerading the former’s army deployment on the latter’s soil. The march is said to be the forerunner of a series of ongoing protests against US imperialism and unequal military treaties with RP, with the five-day event scheduled to begin on April 23 and culminate on April 27 with a protest caravan from Southern Tagalog to Metro Manila.
